Our best tip is to wear something you feel confident in, because it definitely translates in your expression if you are comfortable in your clothes and feel like a boss. Feel free to bring a few options if you aren’t sure - we can look at them together and pick out what will photograph best.

We recommend it! We are big fans of hiring professionals + trusting them. If you feel confident doing your own makeup, that’s totally fine. We recommend wearing a little more than you usually would, because our bright studio lights can wash you out a little. You want to look like yourself, but like a polished, camera-ready version! You got this.

This isn’t a question, but one of the top things I hear when people come into the studio! We get it - it can be uncomfortable for a lot of people, but that’s why you hire a professional! You’ll be surprised how much of a difference our high quality studio lights will make. I will coach you through your session with posing and help you with your expression as well!

If you wear glasses everyday, we recommend you wear them for your session. You want people who see your headshot online to recognize you in real life. Some glasses can reflect light more than others, so we will test the light and I have some tricks to reduce glares if needed.

We shoot tethered during your session, which means the photos transfer to our computer in real time. We will stop periodically during your session to review them, make sure you are happy with how they are coming out, and select some favorites. You will receive a proof gallery within 48 hours, which you will use to select your final favorites for retouching.

We think of retouching as a way of polishing your final photo! We don’t go crazy with it. You want to look like yourself in your headshot, but I say we aim for yourself on your best day - one where you got 8 hours of sleep, your flyaways are cooperating, and clothes are laying nicely and wrinkle-free.

Our general fixes are light skin smoothing, blemish removal, teeth whitening, flyaway hairs, We can do more upon request, but there might be a charge for the “extra mile.”

Once you receive your proof gallery, you can use that to review and you can mark your choices as “favorites” and send us an email when you’ve made your decision. I always recommend having friends/family weigh in, because sometimes we can be our harshest critics and someone who knows you well can help pick your most genuine expression!

The second option is to select your final images during your session. Since we are tethered to a computer, we can review your photos throughout your session and pick out your favorites. I am happy to review with you, give you an objective opinion, and help you select your best face. If you’re on a tight deadline, or are a decisive person, this is a great option.

Once you have selected your final photos for retouching, we will get started and have the final images back to you within 1-2 weeks depending on our current workload. If you have a deadline, make sure you communicate it to us so we can help you meet it! Rush options are available for 24-48 hour delivery.

Choosing your photos during your session or within 1-2 days of receiving your proofs is the best way to keep the process moving and get your photos back quickly.
